The second toy revealed in the BotCon 2012 box set is the Evil Autobot Tracks. Using the same mold as Reveal the Shield Turbo Tracks, this is a new character from the Shattered Glass universe. It’s a dual homage to the Diaclone version of the Generation 1 toy and the eHobby exclusive Road Rage, which was itself an homage to the Diaclone toy (and a European version of the toy released in the Diaclone colors.) So maybe it’s only one homage. Or maybe it’s three homages. Or maybe it’s a recursive homage. Or… something.

I liked the original Turbo Tracks toy (okay, the flight-mode was iffy), so I should like this mold as well. The color scheme looks great. At first I liked it, then I didn’t, but now I’m back to liking it. It’s very vibrant, and while I’m not 100% sure of the stripe down the side, I love the flame deco on the hood.

As for the robot mode… I’m starting to really like him. Again, I liked him and then didn’t like him, but he’s grown on me a lot over the past day. I don’t know if I’ve ever flip-flopped opinions as quickly and as many times as I have with Evil Tracks, but right now… he’s a winner in my eyes. The multiple homages is a nice touch, and you know, if he’s a vibrant red and vibrant blue? So what. I can see this working for an alternate universe Tracks.
Good job, BotCon.
