Norman Reedus, William Shatner, Stan Lee, WWE® Superstar CM Punk® Among Top Celebrity Guests At Wizard World Portland Comic Con, January 24-26
Ron Perlman, Robert Englund, Bruce Campbell, Billy Dee Williams, Adam West, Top Comics Creators Also Among Highlight Stars At Pop Culture Festival At Oregon Convention Center
PORTLAND, Ore., December 2, 2013 – Norman Reedus of “The Walking Dead,” “Star Trek’s” “Captain Kirk” William Shatner, WWE® Superstar CM Punk® and Eisner Award Hall of Famer Stan Lee are among the top celebrities scheduled to attend Wizard World Portland Comic Con, January 24-26 at the Oregon Convention Center. The standout roster will also include Ron Perlman of Hellboy, Robert Englund (“Freddy Kruger” of A Nightmare on Elm Street), Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead, pop culture icons Billy Dee Williams (The Empire Strikes Back, Brian’s Song) and Adam West (“Batman”) and many others. It is the first of 15 events currently scheduled in the 2014 series produced by Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) and will also feature a top-drawer collection of well-known artists and writers and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions.
Reedus, Perlman, Englund and Campbell will appear on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 25-26. Lee will attend on Friday and Saturday, Shatner and Punk will appear on Friday, and Williams and West are scheduled for all three days.
This year marks the second Wizard World Portland Comic Con following a successful debut in Feb. 2013.
Superstar comics creators scheduled to attend include Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams (“Batman,” “Green Lantern”), Mike Zeck (“Spider-Man,” “Punisher”), Jim Cheung (“Avengers vs. X-Men,” “Iron Man”), Rafa Sandoval (“Catwoman,” “Ultimate Hawkeye”), Humberto Ramos (“Amazing Spider-Man,” “Impulse”), George Pérez (“Superman,” “JSA”) and dozens of others.
Other celebrities on the Portland Comic Con roster include “The Walking Dead” stars Jon Bernthal, Laurie Holden and Michael Rooker, Jason David Frank (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”), Burt Ward (“Batman”), Elvira (“Elvira, Mistress of the Dark”), Peter Mayhew (Star Wars), Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Nicholas Brendon (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”), Ray Park (Star Wars: Episode 1, X-Men) and Grant Wilson (“Ghost Hunters”).
Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Wizard World Portland Comic Con show hours are Friday, Jan. 24, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
A first-class lineup of topical programming takes place all three days at the event, with celebrity Q&A’s, comics-themed sessions, costume contest, movie screenings, evening parties and more. Sunday, Jan. 26, is also Kids Day, with an array of activities and programming specially designed for the younger Wizard World fans.
Portland Comic Con is also the place for cosplay, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. Fans dressed as every imaginable character – and some never before dreamed – will roam the convention floor, often stopping by the Cosplay Stage, the ideal place to see and be seen.
