Toy Review – Transformers Huffer

Huffer_Face

Huffer is the Autobot Tech Specialist and Construction Engineer that may be average in speed and courage, but he makes up for it in intelligence, strength and skill.  Armed with a Roadshark Missle Launcher, he’s busy making sure the Autobots can withstand Predacon Dragonfire!

Huffer_Vehicle_03Huffer is a redeco of Trailcutter (who was a retool of Ironhide (who was a redeco — wait, no, sorry)), an SUV with some serious firepower.  Two hood-mounted missles and his detachable Roadshark Missile Launcher mean you don’t want to mess with him (although a Fireblast of only 5 means you probably could).  Add his front plow and roof blades, and he is seriously armored for battle.  Much like his G1 namesake, he’s decked out in mostly orange, with black in the truck bed and blue stripes down the sides.

Huffer has some nice little bits in his transformation — his hood blasters end up on his shoulders in robot mode, although you could swing them behind if you so choose.  His shins and feet fold out very cleverly, and his legs are nicely tucked into his torso to allow his robot to stand taller than you would think.  His front wheels nicely swivel around, out of the way when in robot mode.

Huffer_Robot_Weapon_02In robot mode, you now see more hints of the blue and orange scheme associated with Huffer.  He can hold his missile launcher in either hand, or you can peg it onto his forearms.  The missile is pressure-launched, but in my experience, it only shot “long range” one out of every four times.  The other 75% of the time it just fell out right in front of the launcher.  Still, it looks darn nice.  His side windows kind of hang around his hands, and I’m not sure there’s really a best way to position them.

All in all, he’s a nifty little figure; well articulated, nice poseability, with a somewhat lackluster weapon.  If you have Trailcutter, I’m not sure you need this guy, but he’s a nice homage to the original one.  If you like orange, this bot is for you.
