IDW Previews – April 23, 2014 – Transformers: RiD, 24 and Full Solicits

It’s kind of like last week — out of all the comics IDW is slated to release tomorrow, two caught my eye, and once again it’s 24 and Transformers.  You can see previews below and the full solicitations on page 2. First, The Transformers: Robots in Disguise begins “Season 2” with issue #28.  Written by John Barber with art by Andrew Griffith, this issue finds the Autobots returning to Earth six months after the events of “Dark Cybertron”.  The problem is that they weren’t exactly given a tearful goodbye when they left last time….  This preview happens to feature one of the best damn intros

IDW Previews – April 16, 2014 – Transformers, 24 and More

There are a couple of books that IDW is releasing tomorrow that caught my eye.  First and foremost we have the highly-anticipated Transformers: Windblade #1.  The character of Windblade is fascinating from a behind-the-scenes standpoint alone.  It’s the first character ever created in Transformers with input from all fans.  Last year, Hasbro put up a poll asking what kind of character the fans would want, and lo-and-behold, we have Windblade, a female Transformer that exists in a universe where there aren’t many of her kind.  Not only that, she’s also the only robot around who can speak to Metroplex.  In the

BotCon Reveals 2014 Figure – Decepticon Pirate Scorponok with Headmaster Olin Zarak

Well, to quote a spinach-eating sailor man, blow me down.  Or as I tweeted, Nobody expects 1) the unexpected; 2) the Spanish Inquisition; 3) a new Headmaster figure in 2014. http://t.co/FCDSeLDZfa @BotCon — ASM (@ASMzine) April 3, 2014 I’ve lamented that we weren’t getting Nightbeat as a Headmaster later this year.  I’ve wondered if we’d ever get a Headmaster figure again.  Looks like BotCon has answered my mostly-unheard request, because lo and behold, they just showed off Decepticon Pirate Scorponok with Headmaster Olin Zarak. Look at him.  Look at how glorious he is.  LOOK AT THAT HEAD.  It’s like it’s

BotCon Reveals the Third 2014 Exclusive – Cybertronian Knight Devcon!

So, although I haven’t talked about the previous two exclusives (but I will soon), I figure that should change with the third reveal for BotCon 2014 – Devcon, the Cybertronian Knight! Some fans have been waiting for a Devcon toy for almost 30 years.  We almost had him twice — he was a potential toy for BotCon 2002 (a race car)and if 3H had kept the BotCon license, we might have had him for BotCon 2005 or later (a remold of Energon Slugslinger). They say anticipation makes the heart grow fonder.  I don’t know about that, but at least in

TRANSFORMERS Transformers Legacy: A Celebration of Transformers Package Art—CERTIFIED COOL Jim Sorenson, Bill Forster (w) Remember the thrill of tearing open the wrapping on Christmas morning, discovering a brand new TRANSFORMERS toy in a shiny new box? Essays and interviews from the

Toy Review Advent Calendar: The Bot Bringing Presents to All Good Little Children

Well, this review is part of the Toy Review Advent Calendar, and I love Transformers, so of course I would pick a Transformer with a holiday theme. No, I didn’t choose a robot from any of the Marvel UK comics Christmas issues — I speak of course, of the bot that brings gifts to all girls and boys — Wreck-Gar! You don’t believe me? Oh, do you not remember “Transformers: Animated”? Wreck-Gar decided to play the part of Santa Claus and deliver garbage to all the kids in the episode “Human Error” Well, his spark is in the right place, at
