[Spoilers for season 1 of Game of Thrones and the novel A Game of Thrones] This was one of the surprise exclusives. While we here at ASM knew about the Dark Horse Stark Shield Plaque, it wasn’t until Thursday night of Comic-Con that we found out that Funko had made an exclusive Ned Stark figure. With several of their “Game of Thrones” figures adoring one of our tables, we were debating whether or not to get this one. Then we saw the pictures. And then we saw the special feature. And then our minds melted, we shouted with joy, and we went to HBO Shop

When Dark Horse announced that they would make a small replica of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” Stark Shield for San Diego Comic-On 2013, we here at ASM knew we had to get one. Initially asking Matt Guzy of Awesome Toy Blog to be the procurer, we were then pleased to find out that HBO Shop was going to put a limited supply on their website the opening night of SDCC. And by pleased we mean, “Holy crap they just tweeted that they put some up on their website I gotta get to my computer where’s my credit card RIGHT NOW HOLY CRAP!” Now,

On Sunday, August 3, BBC One will host a live show at 7.00pm BST in which the next Doctor will be revealed for the upcoming Christmas special and series of “Doctor Who”. BBC America will simulcast the show at 2:00pm EDT (1:00pm CDT, check listings for other time zones). Each network has put up a trailer for the special. The BBC One trailer can’t be embedded, so here’s the direct link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01dlmj4 [youtube id=”jpc9rNSfyuE” mode=”normal” align=”center”] BBC America Trailer Personally, I’m hoping they go with a relatively unknown actor who hasn’t appeared in “Doctor Who” or “Torchwood” (or even “The Sarah

Here’s a double-dip of Transformers comics from the past two weeks. IDW released Transformers: More than Meets the Eye #19 and Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters #3, two distinct tales from two different universes. And fittingly enough, I have two different opinions about them. One of the things I’ve noticed is that for the past few years, Transformers comics were — well, not exactly forgettable, but it was hard to remember what happened from issue to issue. Back when Marvel was producing the original Generation 1 series, I could pick up a new issue and immediately remember where the previous issue left off. Maybe that was

This week, EW.com posted a very unique unofficial fan-film featuring Venom, the symbiote-wearing Spider-Man villain. Starring Ryan Kwanten of HBO’s “True Blood” (and sporting a New York accent, once again convincingly disguising his Australian-origins), this film is a different take on the character. It purports to be a documentary by a French film team, detailing Eddie Brock’s investigative journalism into the seedy world of New York crime. But, as you can expect, Eddie shows off his partner during the course of this “found footage”. Take a look below. Would you like to see this expanded into a stand-alone film, outside
