Yeah, I know this book came out last week. Wizard World kept me busy. “Three Monologues” is a great character study by John Barber into the psyche of Starscream, and more specifically, Starscream as leader. What he had wanted for millennia has finally come to pass, and he’s the leader of Iacon. What he didn’t realize is how hard it would be to get the civilians on his side. This issue is interesting, though, is that we learn about Starscream not through his own words. No, this is a character study based on his actions and other character’s reactions to

While at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this past weekend, we were on a mission to take pictures of some of the cooler costumes and displays we saw. Interestingly enough, it seemed that although the extra space made it easier to get around, having two floors to cover made it seem like we were always missing some cool costume disappearing down an aisle, never to be seen again. There was a fantastic Brienne costumer that we were unable to photograph, and we couldn’t find her again. Besides the two floors, another reason could be that with the new layout of

Wizard World Chicago Comic Con sported a new look this year, taking over a completely different area of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. As attendees of the con for over a decade, it felt odd to walk in through the main entrance and turn to the right to enter the show rather than the hall(s) to the left that used to host the con. The most notable change in 2013 was that the con was spread out over two levels of the convention center. The ground level show floor hosted the celebrity autographs, the photo op

Cute! Carny! Contract Killers! AUGUST 8, MILWAUKIE, OR—Dark Horse Comics is headed to the circus this fall with Victor Gischler’s latest wild ride: Clown Fatale! Written by Victor Gischler (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike—A Dark Place, Punisher MAX, X-Men) and drawn by Italian artist Maurizio Rosenzweig, with colors by Moreno Dinisio, Clown Fataleis darkly humorous and graphically violent, a vivid, stylish, cinematic tale of action and blood. The series will also feature covers by Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Ex Sanguine, The Occultist). “I wanted to write a comic that was like the baby of Russ Meyer and Quentin Tarantino on whiskey and meth, and Dark Horse was cool enough

Swerve is by far the Transformer with the weirdest production history in the nearly 30 years of the brand. It’s an exclusive toy, but for a long time, nobody was 100% sure who he was exclusive to. Was he a Chevrolet exclusive in certain European markets? Was he a worldwide Chevy online exclusive? Did you have to buy a real Chevy Aveo to get him, or just test drive? Does he like gladiator movies? (Okay, strike that last one.) For the full story, hit the TF Wiki entry. This review will concentrate on pure facts. Wait, it’s a review, it can’t
