Anthony Brucale, the genius behind TFU.INFO, was at New York Comic Con Friday, taking pictures for us. Because of the amount of pictures, we’re going to post them in batches rather than have you wait for one long post to load up. Transformers Art and Artists At the IDW Publishing booth, Brian Shearer and Andrew Griffith were hanging out, drawing and signing autographs. Dan Khanna, long time artist on various Transformers projects, was also at the convention. Ian Brauner Artist Ian Brauner (http://spacebird.tumblr.com) was there with this Prime Puns book. Unique Toys’ Prototypes Unique Toys was showing off their “Mania King”

Dark Horse & IDW Comics Preview – October 9, 2013
Here are some selected previews that will be out in comic shops Wednesday, October 9. These are the books that caught my eye this week. DARK HORSE Star Wars #10 Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have infiltrated an Imperial Destroyer. But now nine thousand stormtroopers are searching for them, and Darth Vader is aware of their presence. Completing their mission and escaping with their lives may be an either/or proposition! Meanwhile, the Rebel fleet prepares for an Imperial assault! Artist Carlos D’Anda returns! Legendary Star Wars cover artist Hugh Fleming!

Straight from IDW, here are previews of some of the comics that will be on store shelves tomorrow. (Note: Not a full list; I grabbed what I thought would be of interest to ASM readers).

Last time in The Transformers: Regeneration One: Hot Rod was sent spiralling through time by Primus. Okay, when I first heard about this Zero Issue, I admit I was excited about it, primarily for three words: Geoff. Slaggin’. Senior. Yes, UK/US Marvel Transformers artist extraordinaire, Geoff Senior, would be returning to pencil interior pages of a US Transformers comic, for the first time in over a decade. He’s provided retailer incentive covers for RGO, and he did some work for the UK comic back in 2007, but unless I’m missing some information, the last pages he pencilled was for BotCon 2000’s “Reaching the Omega

When I took a look at issue #3 of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters, I said that I was having trouble accepting that the Dinobots looked like Earth dinosaurs, even though they had never been to our planet. Well, I’m glad to say that issue #4 addresses my complaint. In the course of fighting their organic counterparts, the Dinobots discover that the dinosaurs were part of Shockwave’s experiments. He apparently had discovered them on Earth and decided to replicate them on Cybertron. Seems simple enough. It’s an okay read. It’s Dinobots and dinosaurs and huge fights, but I’m having problems caring about

When we last left the Transformers, Pharma had sliced Ambulon in half, forcing Ratchet to try to save his life, and Minimus “Ultra Magnus” Ambus had his head destroyed by Justice Tyrest. Add to that Autobots still stuck in a cell and Cyclonus, Dai Atlas and Whirl fighting for their lives outside, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a mess. The problem with reviewing a comic like this is that unlike Regeneration One, it seems more of a crime to go into much detail of James Roberts’ plot. There are some twists and turns I did not see coming, and

We’re getting close to the end, folks. There’s only six issues left to go in the series — well, technically seven, since we’re getting Regeneration One #0 next month — so we should savor this look back to the bygone era of Transformers storytelling, because soon we won’t have it any more. Good thing there’s a big-ol’ Ultra Magnus vs. Galvatron fight in this issue, just like the old days of Marvel UK. For those who don’t remember, Simon Furman wrote some masterful epics in the UK version of Transformers before he did the same in the US. In Target: 2006, he laid the groundwork

Yeah, I know this book came out last week. Wizard World kept me busy. “Three Monologues” is a great character study by John Barber into the psyche of Starscream, and more specifically, Starscream as leader. What he had wanted for millennia has finally come to pass, and he’s the leader of Iacon. What he didn’t realize is how hard it would be to get the civilians on his side. This issue is interesting, though, is that we learn about Starscream not through his own words. No, this is a character study based on his actions and other character’s reactions to

Here’s a double-dip of Transformers comics from the past two weeks. IDW released Transformers: More than Meets the Eye #19 and Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters #3, two distinct tales from two different universes. And fittingly enough, I have two different opinions about them. One of the things I’ve noticed is that for the past few years, Transformers comics were — well, not exactly forgettable, but it was hard to remember what happened from issue to issue. Back when Marvel was producing the original Generation 1 series, I could pick up a new issue and immediately remember where the previous issue left off. Maybe that was
