When we last left the Transformers, Pharma had sliced Ambulon in half, forcing Ratchet to try to save his life, and Minimus “Ultra Magnus” Ambus had his head destroyed by Justice Tyrest.  Add to that Autobots still stuck in a cell and Cyclonus, Dai Atlas and Whirl fighting for their lives outside, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a mess.

The problem with reviewing a comic like this is that unlike Regeneration One, it seems more of a crime to go into much detail of James Roberts’ plot.  There are some twists and turns I did not see coming, and you really should go read the comic before I spoil it.  That’s why I’m calling this a quick look rather than an in-depth review.  To fully review it would be to fully reveal it, and that’s not fair to you.

Suffice it to say, you get some great character building from Ratchet and First Aid when trying to repair Ambulon.  Or at least you think you do.  Ratchet is going on and on how Pharma is seeing this as a chance to prove how much better a surgeon he is, and you start to believe that it’s actually the case.

In the cell, we learn exactly what happened to Skids memory – turns out he and Getaway were partners trying to stop Tyrest.  But the way they planned to do it was much more cunning than shooting a laser blast through his brain.  Obviously they failed, because Tyrest is here and now trying to put his grand plan into action.  It’s a race to stop him before he turns on the kill switch and destroys all Transformers who were constructed cold.

And it would affect all Transformers, not just the ones nearby.

I’ll say this for James – that’s one hell of a weapon.  And so is the other stuff he reveals around page 18.  Devious.  Brutal.  And damned clever.

Just go buy this comic and read it now.  We can talk more about it after you do.
