[Spoilers for season 1 of Game of Thrones and the novel A Game of Thrones]
This was one of the surprise exclusives. While we here at ASM knew about the Dark Horse Stark Shield Plaque, it wasn’t until Thursday night of Comic-Con that we found out that Funko had made an exclusive Ned Stark figure. With several of their “Game of Thrones” figures adoring one of our tables, we were debating whether or not to get this one.
Then we saw the pictures.
And then we saw the special feature.
And then our minds melted, we shouted with joy, and we went to HBO Shop after they announced limited availability and gave them all some of our money. You know how we went nuts over their announcement of the plaque? “Holy crap they just tweeted that they put some up on their website I gotta get to my computer where’s my credit card RIGHT NOW HOLY CRAP!”? Well, double that.

The Ned Stark figure is a new take on the figure from the first wave of Funko’s “Game of Thrones” figures. Unlike the previous issue, this one has a very unique new deco — blood stains on his tunic? Why? Because this figure represents Ned’s final full appearance (see what I did there?) in season 1 of “Game of Thrones” – right as he’s beheaded. So there’s blood on his shirt.
And his head comes off, thanks to magnets in his neck.
That’s freaking AWESOME!
Seriously, everything about this exclusive is love. From the blood spatters on the box, to the magnetic joint that allows you to pose him with his head on or off, this is the ultimate Funko Pop! Vinyl Ned Stark. Rogue Z and I joked that we were going to have to buy a Ned Stark and take a saw to it so that we could have post-beheading Ned. Now we don’t have to.
