Various fan groups were represented at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this year. These groups had a spectacular array of fan tables and experiences for con attendees, running the full spectrum of pop culture and “nerd culture”. Fans were able to talk one-on-one with fan group representatives and receive information about how to join. Many of these fan groups were set up in the convention center’s main lobby, allowing for popular large-size displays such as the Batmobile, the “Back to the Future” DeLorean, and Ecto-1.
The line-up included the 501st Midwest Garrison, the Rebel Legion, Comics4kids, Cosplay Chicago, D20 Girls, DVM Podcast Empire, Ghostbusters: Chicago Division, Gothams Finest, Heroes Fallen Studios, Jurassic Park Legacy, Mario Godiva Fitness, Musical of the Living Dead, The Nerdologues, Sugar Gamers, USS Chicago, and WGTR “World Grand Theft Radio”.
Also in the popular lobby area was the “Jedi Training” with Star Wars Stunt Coordinator Nick Gillard. Attendees were able to pre-purchase a spot in one of these saber training sessions. Because the training took place in the lobby, other fan attendees were able to watch and share in the experience as well.
