Worth the price? Buy it even at a premium. It’s that good.
If you don’t know who STARSCREAM is, then, you obviously aren’t that big a fan of Transformers. This is a new Legends-class mold, designed to emulate the G1 form of the character.
Robot Mode
For such a small figure, there’s a lot of detail packed into this mold. From the smirk on the face to the null rays, to the painted cockpit, there is nothing about this figure that doesn’t immediately scream (pun intended) “I am Starscream!” Well done, Hasbro, well done.
Vehicle Mode
While there is some unavoidable robot-mode kibble hanging off the botom, this is about as good as you can get for a toy this size. The deco is extremely accurate to the old G1 toy, minus the blue tail fins. There’s a small rubsign on his right wing, right where his old G1 sigil went. Again, Hasbro knocked it out of the park for a Legends toy.
The Good
Everything. This is a toy of pure love. The smirk on the robot face is fantastic, the deco is great, and the transformation is dang slick. I love how the null rays become part of the top of the jet; it’s an innovative way to be able to provide weapons in a small toy.
The Bad
It was barely seen in stores, and for a while, all you could do is hope an online retailer would get one in stock and not sell out quickly. As of press time, it’s now showing up in closeout stores like Ross, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, but even then, you’ve got to hunt for it and hope that your local store 1) will stock it and 2) won’t sell out of it.
The Final Rewind
If you can find him, buy him. It’s worth paying a few bucks for added shipping if you have to order online. You won’t be disappointed. When I first got him, I couldn’t put him down. He’s great. Get him.
