Hasbro Marvel Q&A – September 2010 Answers

  1. Comics are usually on a cycle of major crossover events, with those events planned out 12-18 months in advance. Is Hasbro interested in tying in toy releases more directly to those kinds of crossover events?
  2. The packaging for the Marvel Transformers says Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic built the battlesuits using “alien technology.” Were those aliens the Transformers? If so, was it an information exchange, or a gift, or did they cut up a bunch of Decepticon corpses and see what they could make of them? (The thought of them cutting up Autobot corpses is a bit much!)
  3. Reed Richards and Tony Stark built the Marvel Transformers, right? How come Tony Stark has five or six battlesuits and Reed doesn’t have any? Is he just a jerk?

  1. We work very closely with the Marvel Publishing team to try and synch up comic and toy whenever we can. For example, we put a lot of focus on the Dark Avengers storyline in Marvel Universe this year – most of those key characters will make it to retail in 2010.
  2. The source of this “alien technology” is top secret and known to only a select few including several members of the illuminati and Uatu, the Watcher. There’s a Fury File on it somewhere…but Nick isn’t about to share this intel with us.
  3. Not at all, Reed has just been pre-occupied with the science of it all! He hasn’t had time to develop a suit for himself.
