BotCon 09 – Thunderclash is….

… kinda bad. At least in the robot mode. Take a look at it. That chest is horrible — there’s too much white, the blue logo looks like a crayon scratching, and why they separated the Autobot logo from it, I have no idea. Ugh, I can’t look at that chest without getting upset by it. It could’ve been a lot better. However, the rest of the toy isn’t that bad. Thunderclash should have clashing colors, and this version doesn’t disappoint. I like the different uses of paint masks, although I miss the translucent pink from the G1 toy. Definitely

BotCon 2009 Figure 4 – Flak

Flak has been revealed.  He’s a recolor of Cybertron Defense Scattorshot, with a remolded head. I love this figure.  This color scheme is great.  The red stands out against the white and grey arctic camo, but it doesn’t overpower the figure.  In fact, in a way, it makes it look like there’s more red than there actually is. I know people will complain about this mold still being on the shelves in some form or another (Universe Dropshot, Overload), but sometimes, these things can’t be helped.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the choice for this mold was made long before

Requiem for a Battlestar

I admit it; I didn’t watch Battlestar Galactica when it first came on. Okay, that’s not quite true. I watched the initial mini-series when it first aired, but I didn’t remember much about it. I certainly watched it a few days after the rest of my friends had seen it, and I remember commenting that “Oh, hey, making Boomer a Cylon was kind of interesting.” But for some reason, I had been distracted while watching it, so some of it didn’t make sense. And, to be honest, I had less-than-fond memories of the original series, which existed in a hazy

Why Did I Not Look At These Before?

So, my fiancee and I were out at Toys R Us this weekend.  Actually, we hit four different ones in a 24 hour period, but that’s a different story.  At the first one, we happened to notice the new Marvel Universe 3 3/4″ figures. Why did I not pay more attention to these before?  These things are awesome!  Yeah, the larger size of Marvel Legends figures means more detail, but man, these suckers look extremely playable.  Plus, the smaller size might mean the ability for more characters, especially if they take a book out of G.I. Joe and Star Wars

Like Marvel Movies? You’re In Luck For At Least Three Years

Let’s see here… Iron Man 2 – May 7, 2010 Spider-Man 4 – May 6, 2011 Thor – June 17, 2011 The First Avenger: Captain America – July 22, 2011 The Avengers – May 4, 2012 What this does is push Thor from a June 2010 release out one year, and give Marvel a 3-picture punch in 2011. Sounds good to me. In unrelated news, though, this still doesn’t mean that I get Fanboys near me any time soon….

You asked, they answered.  Here is the March 2009 batch of Q&A from Hasbro’s Transformers Team. ASM Will be posted when Hasbro provides an answer to ASM. Have you determined how Devastator will be packaged? Will he be in robot mode or vehicle mode? — Baltmatrix Devastator will be packed out in his combined robot mode. Not sure if you guys know anything about this at all, but are you at liberty to discuss the announced and immediately canceled third wave of the 3-D Battle Card Game? If so, can you give us any info whatsoever? If not, is there

Frank Welker As Soundwave in TF2?

Michael Bay posted something in his forums about who he might get to voice Soundwave in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: I think I’m going to pursue Frank on Soundwave. Michael Innnnteresting. This was a response to fans linking to an interview with Frank Welker. Is it true? Is it misinformation? Who knows? (via The Allspark)

It’s Not Proper To Reveal A Woman’s Age

But I’ll do it anyway.  Happy 50th birthday to Barbie!  March 9th, 1959 is when Barbie first appeared.  Fifty years later, she’s still going strong with her friends and accessories, but has the rest of the world passed her by?  Mattel would like to think not.  Time will tell if yet another generation of kids will grow up with the world’s most famous doll.

Derrick Teases “Transwarped”

Derrick Wyatt has updated his blog with teaser images from the upcoming “Transformers Animated” Season 3 premiere movie “Transwarped”.  The episode airs this Saturday at 8am on Cartoon Network (be sure to check local listings for the exact time in your time zone). It looks really cool.  Have I mentioned how much I love the TF:A show?  And the toys?  And Derrick? No? Well, uh, consider it mentioned.
