We have never been at a comic convention on a Friday, so we weren’t sure how many costumes we’d see on the floor. While there weren’t as many costumers as we wanted, we did see some great work and we hope that the cosplay will kick up tomorrow when there will be more people. You can find our entire Costume Gallery for Friday by clicking this link, and we have some of the highlights below. For the full size picture, click the link above. All our C2E2 Galleries can be found here!
Continue readingASM – The Geekly Rewind Invades C2E2!
This weekend, ASM invades C2E2! We’ll be there to bask in the comic, geek and pop culture goodness as Chicago hosts its third show by ReedPop. I will be handling pictures of the displays, the booths, the games, and whatever nice geeky stuff I find. My cosplay cohort, Rogue Z, will be covering the costumes. Speaking of costumes, we want to see yours! Rogue Z wants to put together a costume gallery for C2E2, so get out your finest comic/movie/TV/sci-fi/geek costumes and make sure to find us. Even if you aren’t in costume, we want to meet you. Keep an
Continue readingThe Total Recall Remake Actually Looks… Good?
I admit it. I kinda laughed at the prospect of a remake of Total Recall. I honestly didn’t think we needed it. Sure, the original gave us such wonderful lines to quote/mock, but I felt that a remake once again was Hollywood taking the easy way out. Well, yesterday, the first official trailer hit (after a teaser trailer for the trailer was released a few days ago…. okay, then). I admit it. This looks good. I have moved this off my “See it when it comes to HBO/Netflix” list to “Might see this in the theaters.”

IDW’s digital-only Transformers: Autocracy is headed towards the meat of its story, and the pieces of the plot are becoming more apparent. Last issue saw Optimus ambushed the Decepticons, but they only wanted to bring him to Megatron for a talk. Let’s see who’s in a talking mood…
Continue readingMovie Review: The Hunger Games
This past weekend, my wife and I went to see The Hunger Games, the action-packed adaptation of the first book of Suzanne Collins’ ultra-successful book trilogy. Starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katiness Everdeen, the movie follows her as she leaves her home to take part in a cruel and highly political game of survival. Thoughts Having read the first book several months ago, I knew what to expect from this movie, although I was curious how they would handle the story. The book is told entirely from Katniss’ first-person point-of-view, so unless they used an inner (or outer) monologue, details would

IDW’s digital-only Transformers: Autocracy enters its third chapter. The plot should start picking up after the past two issues, so let’s see what happens….

Mark Waid is running an experiment. He’s offering up a digital comic for free with no DRM-strings attached. It’s in PDF form meaning you can read it using whatever PDF application you want. You don’t have to pay for a single thing to read “Luther”. Go to MarkWaid.com and download it. The more downloads, the more stuff like this we’ll see. But even free might not be worth the price.
Continue readingTeenage Alien Ninja Turtles — The Weirdness in Bay’s Head
So on Sunday, my wife happened see on Twitter that Michael Bay was changing the origins of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for his big-screen movie. “How so?” I asked. “He’s making them aliens.” “… say what?” So, I do some searching and I find this quote on io9:
Continue readingComic Review: Saga #1
[Note: Saga is a mature title. Please keep that in mind when reading this review.] I hadn’t heard anything about Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga until the day it was published. My Twitter feed exploded Wednesday and evening with praise and adulation and requests for copies as it sold out in shop after shop. Thankfully, one E-mail to my local comic store was able to reserve me one of the few copies they had left. So, I started in with absolutely no pre-conceived notions about what I was about to read. It wasn’t what I expected.

So, over the weekend at Cybertron Con, Hasbro announced that there would be a bunch of new toys coming out, many as part of the beloved “Classics” line. Except, they’re only going to be exclusive to Hasbro Asia. Not even Japan, but Asia. Check out Planet Iacon Singapore Transformers Fans Unite‘s Facebook page for the pictures. Here’s a listing, thanks to TFW2005:
