Completely Unscientific Poll: Disney Star Wars vs. Disney Firefly

So, on Sunday night, Science Channel aired “Firefly: Browncoats Unite”, a special commemorating the tenth anniversary of Joss Whedon’s beloved show. This, combined with their all-day marathon of the entire television series, filled me with the conflicting emotions of joy and anger. “Firefly” is one of those shows that if I find it on TV, I will most likely stop and watch, even though I’ve seen each episode dozens of times and have them all on DVD. The show is just that damn good. So, an entire day of the ‘Verse made me so happy.

And it also made me angry and sad because of the obvious reason — FOX killed the show too soon. It was cut down before it had a chance to shine, and while the fans have kept it alive for a decade, it still hurts to watch the show and see just how brilliant it was.

During the special (which was brilliant — you would think you’d know everything about the show, and yet I still found new tidbits of information in it), I tweeted:

Come on, how awesome would that be? Joss is in the Mouse’s good graces, and Disney obviously want to bring in new IP. Just imagine what could happen if they could get the rights from 20th Century Fox and Universal.

After the show was over, Rogue_Z and I were talking, and she said that if Disney did get “Firefly” into their portfolio, she would be much more excited about that than she is over new Star Wars films.

That got me thinking — what would get you more excited — the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII or a potential sequel to “Firefly” and Serenity?  Take our completely unscientific, non-binding, and nobody-will-read-this-anyway poll!

Disney Star Wars vs. Disney Firefly - What would make you more excited?

  • Star Wars - I worship the Dark Side (67%, 2 Votes)
  • Firefly - Joss is my Master (33%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 3
