Hasbro Transformers Q&A – July 2009

Hasbro has taken time once again to answer your questions. Read on!

  1. This is for the entire Transformers team: Who are your most and least favorite characters from TF history? (Be honest! It’s okay if you hate Grapple.)
Some of our favorites are: Grapple, Bumblebee, Swerve, Autobot Wheelie,
    Grimlock, Mirage and Jetfire.
Some of our least favorites: well, let’s just say that some secrets are
    best left unsaid!

  2. At the BotCon 2007 Hasbro tour, there was a booth filled with artwork, including very striking posters of Transformers subjects in propaganda- and tattoo-style. Bits of those pieces have shown up on scattered merchandise, such as the Finger Boards and the Shout! Factory DVD packaging, but are there any plans to sell them as posters or prints unto themselves?

The art you are referring to was part of our Transformers Universe
style guide. In many cases, the choices of what licensed product will be
produced is left up to the actual licensee. So I’m not sure if posters of
that art will ever be made, but we try to use the art where appropriate
because we think it’s cool (like on the DVD extras, etc.)

  3. Considering the recent reacquisition of the Generation 1 cartoon series, does Hasbro currently own the rights to the Beast Wars and Beast Machines cartoon shows in the United States? And if not, are you pursuing them?
Hasbro is in the fortunate position to own the rights to all of its
TRANSFORMERS content across most territories (domestic and international).
