Toy Fair 2013 – Day 2 Recap – LEGO, Mattel, Bandai, Playmates, Diamond Select
We’re in the middle of Day 3 of Toy Fair pictures, but let’s turn the clock back a few hours and see what we unveiled during the hour of the wolf (sorry, a Song of Ice and Fire reference there….). Yesterday, our big galleries were for three of the biggest companies at the show – LEGO, Mattel, and Bandai, plus some Playmates and Diamond Select Toys thrown in. From LEGO, we saw new Galaxy Force, new Lord of the Rings, more Star Wars, and the debut of The Lone Ranger. We also saw DUPLO, Creator, Castle, City, and lots more.

But I’ll do it anyway. Happy 50th birthday to Barbie! March 9th, 1959 is when Barbie first appeared. Fifty years later, she’s still going strong with her friends and accessories, but has the rest of the world passed her by? Mattel would like to think not. Time will tell if yet another generation of kids will grow up with the world’s most famous doll.
