Transformers Toy Review Roulette – August 2011

Okay, let’s start a new idea.  You pick the Transformers toy subline, I’ll pick a toy from that era (if I have it handy).  Any American line is valid — G1, G2, Beast Wars, Robots in Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Classics, Movie 1, 2 or 3, Universe, Generations, Hunt for the Decepticons, Reveal the Shield.  Comment here, E-mail, post on Twitter, Facebook, or Google +.  The line with the most votes wins.  Let’s have votes open until next week Wednesday. Remember — vote for a line, not a specific toy.  I’m no longer a completist and don’t have every TF

Chicago Comic Con 2011 – Post Convention Thoughts

Another Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con has come and gone, and while we wait another 51 weeks for it to return, all we can do is look back on the weekend and reminisce. It’s interesting to compare this year’s convention to previous years. At first glance, it may not look like it, but much has changed about the convention over the past few years, and there are some who say it may be for the worse. My feeling is that while it’s different, the convention has found a new focus that still provides a weekend of fun.

From the Lost ASM Archives: A Little Q&A With Joe Ruby

This interview was given to ASM in 2005, but for reasons unknown it was never published.  Greg Sepelak asked if he could publish the Mega Man portions on his Tumblr blog, and that gave me the impetus to put the rest of this interview online.  Sit back, then, and enjoy this “new to you” lost article, an interview with Joe Ruby from Ruby Spears productions.  This interview was conducted by Matthew Karpowich and Greg Sepelak in February 2005. General Topics ASM: Did you ever imagine you’d be working on TV animation productions, or that you’d be in this line of

If you’re going to be there, keep an eye out for the ASM logo and say hi! To whet your appetite, we uploaded our past coverage to our ASM Geekly Rewind Gallery. You can check out all the links below. Cyphan 2011 – Saturday Costume Review

This Saturday, I hit the floor of the 2nd annual Cyphan convention in Rosemont (Chicago), IL.  This convention draws a heavy number of costumers, and there was no shortage of amazing costumes to see. Unfortunately I ran into some technical difficulties with my camera so not all of my shots turned out, but I was able to use the bulk of the photos I took, although a few may be somewhat dark. A link to ASM’s full costume gallery is at the end of this article.  First, some comments on just a few of the amazing costumes I saw:
