The Lounge at Chicago Comic Con 2012 was a very popular spot. It provided space to sit down, relax, charge up your phone/tablet/computer — and to look at some awesome Star Trek props! They had items representing nearly every era of Trek; in fact, I think the only eras missing were the 2009 movie and the animated series, although representing a prop from an animated series would be somewhat tricky…. One of the largest crowds in the Artists’ Alley area seemed to focus on the table of the Northern Illinois Lego Train Club. This group of Lego enthusiasts had several tables of Lego creations on display, as pictured below. The two large Lego guitars caught the eyes of many passing by. One of the highlights of their display was the three-walled diorama bedroom scene from “Toy Story”, complete with Andy’s toys. ASM’s favorite had to be the Bluth Family Stair Truck inspired by the show “Arrested Development”. The entire Bluth family was represented in Lego form.

Various fan groups were represented at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this year. These groups had a spectacular array of fan tables and experiences for con attendees, running the full spectrum of pop culture and “nerd culture”. Fans were able to talk one-on-one with fan group representatives and receive information about how to join. Many of these fan groups were set up in the convention center’s main lobby, allowing for popular large-size displays such as the Batmobile, the “Back to the Future” DeLorean, and Ecto-1.
