Another C2E2 has come and gone, and with it comes the long wait for it to return. This was the fourth iteration of the spring Chicago convention, and it has grown exponentially since 2010. I remember going to the first one in 2010 and easily needing less than a day to see everything. Fast forward three years, and we now spend a weekend at the show. Diamond Select Toys, makers of Minimates, action figures, and other cool pop culture collectibles, had two separate display booths at C2E2. To celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of Minimates, they had several display cases showcasing various figures from the previous decade. They also had on display items from Star Trek, Marvel, Ghostbusters, “The Munsters”, Universal Monsters, and other awesome stuff. The Chicago Swordplay Guild presented at panel at C2E2 early Saturday evening. They treated the crowd to a demonstration of their knowledge and technique in authentic European swordplay. The organization strives for historical accuracy, spending hours researching medieval documentation of the art. This research includes painstaking reading through ancient books written in Italian.
