In the world of comics, something new is always heralded as a big thing. It could be a new story, a new writer, a new art team, a new mini-series, a new #1 issue of a long running series — or even a combination of several of the above. Publishers will do their best to say that New Stuff makes for a comic Worth Reading. (Sometimes they all but scream it in your ear.) The problem with this is that bringing New Stuff has been done so often that there’s a big potential for a letdown. Looking at The Transformers: Windblade

Funko Reveals Rocketeer ReAction Figure and Maleficent and Hanna-Barbera Pop Vinyl Figures
Funko has sent over pictures from some of their upcoming product, and we’re happy to show them off. First, from their retro-styled ReAction line, Funko is releasing a figure based on the cult movie The Rocketeer. Featuring a removable helmet and jetpack, this figure looks like it was made in the 70’s, which may be many years before the movie came out but fits in with the character’s comic debut in 1982. The Rocketeer figure is available in May.

There are a couple of books that IDW is releasing tomorrow that caught my eye. First and foremost we have the highly-anticipated Transformers: Windblade #1. The character of Windblade is fascinating from a behind-the-scenes standpoint alone. It’s the first character ever created in Transformers with input from all fans. Last year, Hasbro put up a poll asking what kind of character the fans would want, and lo-and-behold, we have Windblade, a female Transformer that exists in a universe where there aren’t many of her kind. Not only that, she’s also the only robot around who can speak to Metroplex. In the
